Academic Pathways
Two routes into the Fellowship. The final pathway decision rests with the authorised academic institution and the Fellowship Committee.
Pathway I
Principal pathway
MA in Biblical Studies and Practical Theology
This is the principal pathway for applicants with a recognised first degree in any discipline and an established interest, calling or involvement in Christian ministry. The programme connects biblical studies, theology, research and practical ministry.
Pathway II
Selective alternative
ATHE Level 6 Extended Diploma in Theology and Management
Suitable applicants without a first degree may be considered for this selective alternative pathway. It develops theology, management and vocational ministry competence through a portfolio-based Level 6 qualification.
ImportantThe Level 6 diploma sits at the same RQF level at which UK bachelor’s degrees also sit, but it is not itself a bachelor’s degree, is not a substitute for a first degree and does not automatically guarantee MA progression.
Publication note: the approved degree-awarding university, programme specification and accreditation wording for the MA are displayed only after formal confirmation.
